By 1960, Honda makes almost 800,000 motorcycles per year. Many of them are small, under 150cc, and Honda does its best to link racetrack successes with happiness on the street.

This early American Honda ad combines the fact that Honda makes 65,000 bikes per month, with news that it’s a brand of race-winning bikes previously unavailable in the US.

American Honda also links the notion that you can ride to work economically, yet be ready to win races on the weekends, all with the same machine. Yes, you can have it all. If you’re really serious, you can even become a Honda dealer.
