After the war, the US government authorizes the shipping of cotton to Japan. Suzuki Loom Works, a key player in the Japanese silk industry, goes to work weaving the new cotton fabric. But when the cotton market collapses in 1951, Michio Suzuki and his son Shunzo turn their eye to producing Suzuki motorcycles.

In the late 1930s, Suzuki Loom Works briefly worked on producing a car, based on the Austin 7. But after the Japanese government declared civilian auto production a non-essential commodity during WWII, Suzuki defers their vehicular interest until after the war, and after the US-cotton-work ended. Note all the bicycles out front. Signs of two-wheeled things to come.
